Sathvika (Sadie) Jothi is a 10th grade IBMYP student at Mira Loma High School in Sacramento, CA. As a child, I traveled to India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and other countries to learn about their people, cultures, education, food, and civilizations. It was particularly rewarding to visit schools as well as educational institutions in underdeveloped parts of these countries. I have seen the difficulties of providing quality education in rural areas, as well as the lack of awareness of technological advancements in developed countries like the U.S. The experiences I had led me to form a non-profit organization to assist these schools and kids in learning about artificial intelligence, science, and technology through advanced education and access to learning resources. Following this, on October 8th of 2023, I founded the non-profit Deep Science AI Foundation.
During the weekends of October 7th and 8th, 2023, with Rancho Cordova City Council sponsorship, we offered ChatGPT and machine learning workshops (MLOps) to middle and high school students at Rancho Cordova City Council offices, with about 100 students participating. City manager Micah Runner and council member Siri Pulipati addressed the students at the event to motivate and encourage them to learn more about artificial intelligence and machine learning and its role in the future.
During this two-day hands-on workshop, students learned about generative AI, ChatGPT, and machine learning, robotics, and coding. The students were actively engaged throughout the session and demonstrated their skills and knowledge by developing simple classification and regression models.
In addition, the students learned how to create prompts to interact with the ChatGPT model, as well as how to work with different types of prompts for various business purposes.
